Middle East Artifacts - Will history rewrite itself?

An ancient relic believed to date back between 250BC and 246AD has been uncovered by a German archaeologist whilst sorting through the contents at the Nathional Museum of Iraq of which he is the Director. The relic was originally found along with many others in the area of Khuyut Rabbou'a; a village south east of Baghdad.

The possibilities surrounding this relic have been extraordinary, with archaeologists believing it resembels a Galvanic Cell which if true would rewrite history and bring this object to being the first battery used by man. Why this technology has been lost until 1799 when Italian inventor Alessandro Volta officialy designed the first working battery capable of generating 2 to 3 volts, is one many questions that now arise.
